Trucker from Calgary nabbed with 108 kg of cocaine at Coutts border crossing

A massive drug bust unfolded at the Coutts port of entry in southern Alberta, where Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers seized 108 kilograms of cocaine on March 8, 2025. The drugs were uncovered during a secondary inspection of a commercial transport vehicle arriving from the United States, concealed within the vehicle’s load.

The Alberta Integrated Border Enforcement Team—a joint task force comprising the RCMP Federal Policing Northwest Region, CBSA, and Calgary Police Service—swiftly launched a criminal investigation. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Calgary resident Arshdeep Singh, was arrested at the scene.

Singh now faces serious charges, including importation of a controlled substance under Section 6(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking under Section 5(2) of the same act. He is set to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lethbridge on May 7, 2025.
