“Highlight Motor Group has been a strong long-term partner of Volvo Trucks, and this order is a clear demonstration of their commitment to safety, efficiency, and their drivers,” said Matthew Blackman, managing director for Canada at Volvo Trucks North America. “The all-new Volvo VNL is designed to change everything about the long-haul driving experience, and we are proud to see Highlight leading the way in Canada.”

With driver recruitment and retention remaining top concerns in the trucking sector, Highlight Motor Group’s investment focuses heavily on safety and comfort. The company maintains one of Canada’s youngest fleets by refreshing vehicles every four to five years, with Volvo models comprising the majority of its power units.

Drivers testing the new VNL 860 have praised its cutting-edge safety technologies, such as Volvo Active Driver Assist Plus, lane-keeping support, pedestrian detection, and automated emergency braking.

“Safety has always been our number one priority, and Volvo shares that same value,” said Kirk Kalinitchenko, president and CEO of Highlight Motor Group.

“By investing in the all-new Volvo VNL 860, we are giving our drivers safe, modern equipment that feels like both a comfortable workspace and home on the road, while also improving fuel efficiency and supporting our sustainability goals.”

The redesigned VNL 860 delivers up to 10% better fuel economy than previous generations through aerodynamic improvements and powertrain enhancements, helping reduce operational costs and carbon emissions.

Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Highlight Motor Group started as a less-than-truckload and cross-border truckload carrier linking New York/New Jersey with the Greater Toronto Area. Today, it provides reliable transportation services across North America.
