Police divers have recovered the bodies of two people who were inside a transport truck that plunged into an icy river on Tuesday.
The tractor-trailer plowed through a guardrail while heading eastbound on Highway 401 Tuesday, plunging into Nith River west of Cambridge, Ont., police say. The deceased have been identified as Anand Vora, 38 and Jasjit Singh Sandhu, 37, both from Brampton, Ontario.
The eastbound lanes of the country’s busiest highway were closed near Woodstock, Ont., for most of the day as police and firefighters tried to find the occupants.
The crash happened shortly after 11:30 a.m. The truck was on its way to Mississauga from Chicago carrying computers and computer components. The cargo could be seen floating in the water following the crash.
