In a letter to industry stakeholders on January 22 — MTO Stakeholder Letter – Info Sessions_public — MTO officials are reminding current MVIS operators of the ongoing industry awareness sessions regarding the transition to DriveON which are taking place across the province.
The DriveON program when fully transitioned will combine the heavy-duty diesel vehicle emissions testing program and the MTO’s Motor Vehicle Inspection Station (MVIS) Program into a single digital inspection program. The new program will significantly reduce opportunities for fraud while also eliminating paper waste, improve compliance and commercial vehicle safety standards, and improve air quality issues amongst other benefits.
The free of charge sessions co-hosted by MTO and Parsons Inc consist of a presentation by the MTO, as well as Parsons Inc. to introduce the new DriveON program, show the program equipment and software and to conduct a question-and-answer period.
For details on upcoming sessions and registration information click here. Information sessions took place virtually in December and in-person sessions will continue across various towns and cities in Ontario into February.
Those unable to attend one of the remaining in-person sessions can view detailed information MTO has assembled here including a copy of the presentation that is provided during the outreach sessions and program enrollment information.
Although there is no current timeline for the completion of the DriveON transition, MTO has confirmed that the current MVIS program will continue to operate for now; and Parsons Inc. will continue to reach out directly to interested stakeholders with further communications on when program enrollment opens over the coming months, substantial outreach, support, and educational materials as the transition moves forward.
