Police Investigating Fatal Collision on Highway 401 in Tilbury

401Collision_RoadTodayOn June 22, 2018 around 6:50 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services, and Chatham-Kent Emergency Medical Services (EMS), responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 401 near Queens Line.

A westbound tractor trailer had lost control, crossed through the center median and collided with an eastbound tractor trailer.

As a result of the collision, both drivers were transported to hospital with life threatening injuries. One of the drivers was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The identity of the deceased is being withheld by OPP at this time pending notification of next of kin.

401Collision_RoadToday1OPP Traffic Collision Investigators (TCI) is currently on scene investigating the collision.

Highway 401 between County Road 42 and Queens Line will be closed for approximately six hours. Motorists will have to find alternative routes.
